APYC celebrates Raksha Bandhan as ‘Samvidhan Bachao Divas’

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) celebrated Raksha Bandhan as ‘Samvidhan Bachao Divas (Save Constitution Day)’.
The women members of the APYC tied rakhis on an Indian Constitution book during an event organized here on Sunday. Later, in a press release, Youth Congress spokesman Arjun Panye said the Constitution was unsafe under the BJP government and the Youth Congress members vowed to protect it by tying rakhis on it.
“On this day, sisters of all ages tie rakhis around the wrists of their brothers to seek protection from them. We celebrated Raksha Bandhan as Samvidhan Bachao Diwas by tying rakhis on the Constitution of India. For years the Constitution of India has protected the democratic rights of all citizens, irrespective of their religion, caste, creed, demography and region. Incidences of atrocities against women and Dalits, and mob lynching are on the rise under the BJP government. This is in breach of their fundamental rights as bestowed to them by the Constitution of India,” the APYC stated.
It added: “Symbolic to this concept all the ladies would seek protection from the Constitution of India and in expectation of this protection they will tie a rakhi to the Constitution.”
