DA strengthens noose around illegal construction

ITANAGAR, Aug 28: In view of reports that construction of various types of buildings are being carried out in the capital complex illegally and without valid land allotment, land possession certificate (LPC), building plan sanction, or NOC from the district disaster management authority (DDMA), Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan has issued an order directing the DLRSO to initiate proceedings under the Public Premises Eviction Act.
The DLRSO would initiate the proceedings in consultation with the estate officer concerned and the DDMO to initiate action under relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act.
The DC has also directed the district town planner to initiate action for violation of building by-laws.
He has also directed the capital complex SP to check the entry of vehicles carrying construction materials at the check gates or nakas, and to ensure their entry only after verification of valid land A/L or LPC/LHC of the destination site where construction is ongoing and valid building plan sanction for the construction along with an NOC from the DDMA.
The DC informed that the traffic police have also been authorized to check vehicles carrying construction material.
In compliance with the order of the DC, DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam, along with ATP Tabong Tamut and the SKs of the areas concerned carried out inspection of all illegal or unauthorized encroachments, construction, etc, based on the reports from the SKs, after proper verification.
She also served notices to 36 violators under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The DC has time and again stressed that the district administration (DA) has zero tolerance against such violators, and that those engaging in illegal construction would be dealt with strictly as per the relevant sections of law.
He appealed to denizens of the capital complex to refrain from such illegal activities, and to inform the DA if they come across such cases.
The DC also informed that citizens can call in the toll free number 1077 to register complaints regarding illegal constructions. (DIPRO)
