DA thanks everyone involved in island rescue

PASIGHAT, Sep 2: The East Siang district administration has expressed gratitude to all those who played their parts in evacuating all the 19 stranded people from an island in the Siang river at Sille-Oyan circle on 31 August.
“The evacuation was possible due to the proactive support and coordinated efforts by all the stakeholders,” Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak said in a press statement.
The DC expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, local MLA Tatung Jamoh, Member of Parliament Ninong Ering, government officials, the district police, the Indian Army and individuals, and the elected leaders of the district for their assistance in sharing expertise and manpower, and for their moral support during the rescue operation.
The DC thanked the IAF and the members of the IAF team from the Mohanbari station in Assam who conducted the rescue operation. He said the police and the Indian Army through its column from the 307 Medium Regiment rendered logistic support during the rescue operation.
Tatak also appreciated the GB of Jampani, Tate Saroh, for alerting the administration on time, and public leader Tageng Nyitan, who was deputed by local MLA Tatung Jamoh, for accompanying the IAF team and providing local guidance during the entire operation.
“My gratitude and thanks also goes to the locals of Sille-Oyan circle and the citizens of East Siang and the state for their concern and support, and also to the media for highlighting the entire process of the rescue operation right from the beginning,” Tatak said. (DIPRO)
