Governor calls for improving education sector

ITANAGAR, Sep 3: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called on Governor BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday, and the two discussed various developmental issues of the state.
Mishra emphasized on improving the education sector of the state, and on speedy collection and distribution of textbooks.
He advised the DCM to plan in advance for procurement of textbooks for the next academic session, “so that the needy students receive their books at the beginning of their academic session.”
Appreciating the DCM for facilitating the commencement of the Sainik School by addressing the departmental land issue, the governor requested him to ensure the state government’s commitment towards the school.
The two also discussed the safety of the villagers near the Dollungmukh IAF firing range, and it was emphasized that the standard operating procedure should be meticulously complied with.
Matters related to the Namsai aspirational village, which the governor is scheduled to visit in September, also came up for discussion.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal was also present at the meeting. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
