ITANAGAR, Sep 5: Stating that the secretary of various work departments should be from engineering wings or backgrounds, the joint core committee (JCC) of Arunachal Pradesh appealed to Chief Secretary Satya Gopal to recommend for appointment of senior-most chief engineers to the post.
In its representation to the chief secretary, the JCC said that the secretary of RWD, PWD, UD and Housing etc are from non-technical background, while the secretary of AR, PHED, UD and Housing departments are governed by a single person, who also is from non-technical background.
The JCC said that promotion of senior engineers serving in various departments to the post of secretary will create opportunity for appointment of junior level posts, which will reduce unemployment.
Gaken Ete was the only such person from engineering background to be inducted as the secretary in 2011-12, it informed.
The JCC comprises various unemployed engineers associations, including Arunachal Pradesh Diploma Unemployed Engineers’ Association, All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Engineers’ Association, Arunachal Unemployed Civil Engineers’ Co-ordination and Unemployed All Arunachal Engineers’ Association.
