ITANAGAR, Aug 5: The North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) Arunachal Pradesh state has questioned the reinstatement of Tani Jonkey, Joint Commissioner (Tax and Excise).
The officer was placed under suspension in August 2017 after he was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Later, an inquiry committee was formed by the government.
According to the organization, the committee failed to submit the report within stipulated time, for which submission could not be reviewed.
The officer later went to the High Court which ordered his reinstatement in November 2017.
The organization claimed that non-submission of inquiry report by the officials appointed as the inquiry officer and presenting officer respectively rendered it unfeasible to review the suspension.
