APCC to stage protest against fuel price hike

ITANAGAR, Sep 7: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has said it and all its frontal wings will “observe bandh” across the state from 9 am to 3 pm on 10 September, in solidarity with the All India Congress Committee’s bandh call to protest the rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG in the country.
Volunteers of the Congress, along with members of NGOs and other supporting political parties will stage peaceful dharnas at fuel pumps to protest the skyrocketing fuel prices which have resulted in price hikes on all essential commodities, including transportation fares, affecting the life of the common people, the APCC stated in a release.
Essential and emergency services, paramilitary and police forces, magistrates on duty, and the press will be exempt from the purview of the proposed bandh, it said.
APCC president Takam Sanjoy appealed to all political parties, along with NGOs, the chamber of commerce, and market welfare associations to join the protest against the “loot, extortion, inhumane and unethical steps taken by the BJP government at the Centre and the state.”
