YUPIA, Sep 7: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda has expressed concern over the dismal performance of the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank’s Rural Self Employment Training Institute (APRB-RSETI).
Presiding over a District Level Review and Advisory Committee (DLRAC) meeting of the APRB-RSETI here on Friday, the DC directed the RSETI to be very proactive in making its capacity building programme a success.
Emphasizing on proper streamlining of the functioning of the RSETI, the DC, who is also the DLRAC chairman, said the APRB-RSETI in Papum Pare is the lone institute which caters to all districts of the state.
“It is very important to strengthen the staff capacity for its efficient functioning, and the management should actively coordinate with the district administration and place their problems for better functioning of RSETI,” he said.
Dr Beda also asked the institute to converge their financial literacy camps and entrepreneurs awareness programme with the sarker aapke dwar programme to provide services to the people at their doorsteps.
Reviewing the types of training imparted by the APRB-RSETI, the DC said it should identify and focus on subjects which offer more scope for employment and are viable.
Regarding the status of construction of the RSETI building in Yupia, the DC instructed the executing agency to construct the building as per the institute’s guidelines.
ArSRLM SMM Hillang Tassang gave a presentation on the role of the ArSRLM in monitoring the functioning of the RSETI. Tassang informed that as per the RBI instructions, the NRLM is encouraging public sector banks to set up RSETIs in all districts of the country to facilitate self-employment to the rural youths.
Among others, Labour Commissioner Ojing Darung, ADC Tabang Bodung, and APRB chairman Akshay Kumar were present at the meeting.
The RSETI is a initiative of the union rural development ministry to provide short-term courses to unemployed rural youths of the country. Currently there is only one institute, in Papum Pare district, for the entire state of Arunachal Pradesh, under the APRB. (DIPRO)
