PIYONG, Sep 11: “The government and the administration should see that every needy person is taken care of, in order to achieve overall development,” said Governor BD Mishra.
“The nation will develop only when the last person in the queue is taken care of,” he said in his address at a public meeting here in Namsai district on Tuesday.
“It is the vision and mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu to bring development to every nook and corner of this frontier state. It is the onerous responsibility of every citizen to ensure that projects are implemented with honesty, transparency and accountability,” Mishra said.
The governor honoured the eldest gaon burah of Piyong Khampi, Lohani Mantaw, and gave away cheques to the beneficiaries under the Krishi Vigyan programme for promoting organic farming.
He interacted with the officers involved in the implementation of the projects and programmes meant for ‘aspirational district’ Namsai, and advised them to set targets and implement the projects wholeheartedly.
“The government officers are the one who can take the state forward. They must be punctual, regular in the office and devote their time and energy in the public interest,” Mishra said.
He also advised the HoDs and officers to adopt a school each to improve the education sector in the state.
The governor visited the health & wellness centre here, and also the projects undertaken under the aspirational district programme in Namsai.
He interacted with beneficiaries of Awas Yojana, Saubhagya Scheme, Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana.
Accompanied by his wife Neelam Misra, the governor also visited the anganwadi centre and the government upper primary school here, which are covered under the aspirational district programme, and interacted with anganwadi workers, ASHAs, students, and teachers. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
