CM announces ex gratia

ITANAGAR, Sep 14: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of several lives in Modirijo and Donyi Polo areas of the capital complex due to flood and landslides on Friday morning.
He announced ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased, and prayed for early recovery of those recuperating in the hospitals.
Assuring all possible support from the state government, Pema directed the district administration and the disaster management department to continuously monitor the situation.
He directed the chief secretary in-charge to personally monitor the situation and shift the people from vulnerable areas to safer places. Pema also directed the district administration to conduct proper loss assessment and submit the report to the government at the earliest.
The chief minister has issued directives to all the DCs to keep strict vigil during the monsoon to avoid human casualties and damages. He also gave strict instructions to ensure preparedness to tackle the catastrophe.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has also expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of human lives and properties in the flashfloods
The DCM met the Capital DC Prince Dhawan evening to take stock of the situation, and instructed the DC, the SP and Chief Secretary in-charge, Kaling Tayeng, to leave no stone unturned to carry out rescue operations and provide relief materials to the affected families.
Mein instructed the DC to rehabilitate the affected families, and to relocate those residing in vulnerable places like nallahs, river banks, landslide-prone areas, etc, to safer places.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration in such difficult times. (CMO and DCM’s office)
