Woman rescued from Brahmaputra

SIVASAGAR (Assam), Sep 18: A 60-year-old woman who was carried away by the waves of the Brahmaputra river on Tuesday at around 7 am was rescued by personnel of the 12th Bn NDRF on the same evening.
The woman has been identified as Lakheswaree Hazarika. The NDRF first received information about the incident from the Sivasagar DPO.
A team of 30 personnel of the battalion, under the command of Inspector Ravi Kant, rushed to the spot and started their search-and-rescue operation.
After searching around 1.5 km downstream from the place of the incident, the NDRF team found the woman stuck in some bushes near the river bank, and rescued her.
The woman is currently under medical treatment.
