PASIGHAT, Sep 22: Miss Tiara India, Chum Darang, launched the Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) as brand ambassador in a function here on Friday.
Addressing the function, Darang said that, as the brand ambassador, she would engage in dissemination of information on vital issues like antenatal care, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, anaemia, girls’ education, right age of marriage, hygiene and sanitation, etc, through audiovisual and other campaigning methods.
She said she felt “fortunate enough to be a part of the fight against malnutrition in children.”
National Nutrition Day, which was launched on 8 March by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is being celebrated across the country from 1-30 September by the women & child development department.
The scheme aims to reduce the level of stunting from 38.4% (NFHS-4) to 25% by 2022, under-nutrition and anaemia in children, and low birth-weight of babies across India, informed ICDS Deputy Director Ponung Ering Angu.
