APMCC voices concern over arbitrary appointment to APSCW

ITANAGAR, Sep 27: The Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) on Thursday expressed concern over the delay in rectifying the alleged “illegal and arbitrary appointment” made to the 5th body of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), and demanded that the Pema Khandu-led BJP government stop endorsing “unlawfulness and illegality.”
In a press communiqué, the APMCC sought the reason for the state government’s silence, and for the delay in the appointment of a new commission body.
“It has been seven months that several women organisations are collectively fighting against the illegality committed by the Pema-led BJP government,” it said.
“The Pema-led BJP government had initially accepted the shortcomings in the procedure of appointing the 5th body of the APSCW, and assured to correct it. However, the government failed to do so. Such negligence of current government clearly exposes biased involvement of the government itself in executing illegality in the APSCW,” the APMCC said.
It said the delay in rectification showed “how the current government is working against the interest of womenfolk.
“The government is sabotaging the rights of women by auctioning the dignity and privileges of womenfolk in the state,” it said.
The APMCC also said the state government was “making womenfolk more susceptible to vulnerability, destitution and deprivation by not rectifying the illegal appointment to the 5th Body of the APSCW.”
