Tourism Day celebrated

ITANAGAR, Sep 28: The tourism department celebrated World Tourism Day across the state by organizing various tourism promotional activities and highlighting the state’s tourism potential.
In Tawang, District Tourism Officer Tsering Dekey spoke to students about the places of tourists’ interest as well as the tourism potential of the district and the state.
Essay, drawing and quiz competitions related to tourism were conducted among the students of the government ME school (GMES) Khremethang to mark the day. A cleanliness drive was also organized, which was participated in by the monks of the Tawang monastery, villagers of Shyo, students of GMES Khremethang and Shyo, and tourism officials.
Tourism Day was also observed at different tourist locations in West Siang, Lower Siang, and Shi-Yomi districts on 27 September.
At Malinithan in Likabali, a cleanliness drive was conducted, and a signage was set up at Akashi Ganga. Besides government officials and members of the public, more than 200 students participated in a cleanliness drive conducted on the occasion.
Officials of the West Siang tourism department and members of the Tato Eco-Tourism and Cultural Society (TECS) planted plant ornamental trees and set up TECS signboards in Tato, while in Mechuka the word ‘Menchukha’ was cleaned up and painted by the department in collaboration with the Mechukha Ecotourism and Cultural Society.
