Union reiterates demand on ST certificates

TAWANG, Oct 8: The All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) in a representation to the deputy commissioner here on Monday reiterated its demand to cancel the ST certificates issued to the family members/offspring of late Nawang Dondup, stating that “they are not bonafide citizens of Tawang.”
Stating that Drs Sonam Dolma, Sonam Tsomu and Pema Dolma belong to late Dondup’s family, the union demanded immediate cancellation of the ST certificates issued to them, as well as their appointment in the health department.
It said late Dondup (Tete Petey) was the father of Yeshi Thinley, Tempa Tsering, Tsering Chodak, Sonam Ngutu, Tenzin Norbu, and Lobsang Dhargyal, who the union said are not “bonafide citizens of Tawang.”
“Lobsang Dhargyal, son of late Nawang Dondup, is a refugee/green card holder (IN 9002011) while the family members of Yeshi Thinly, the eldest son of Nawang Dondup, have obtained ST certificates from Lhou village without the consent of the goan burah and without police verification,” the union alleged.
It said documents supporting the union’s claims have been submitted to the deputy commissioner.
The ATDSU also expressed strong resentment over the delay in pronouncing judgment on the two-member fact-finding committee report.
