LUMDUNG, Oct 9: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the third Ramakrishna Mission School (RKMS) of the state,here in East Kameng district.
MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, Home Minister Kumar Waii, and RKM assistant general secretary Swami Bodhasarananda were among those present at the function.
The CM also announced that the second agriculture college of the state would be established in East Kameng.
“The two institutes will not only benefit East Kameng district but all the neighbouring districts,” he said, adding that their establishment would not only uplift the education scenario but also boost tourism and economic activities.
Acknowledging the efforts of local MLA Mama Natung and the contribution from the RKM for establishing the school, Pema urged the MLAs of East Kameng, West Kameng and Tawang districts to contribute annually from their MLALAD funds for the development of the RKMS here. He made similar appeal to the local business community and contractors.
Responding to the RKM’s requirements for the development of the school, the CM assured to provide “full support of the state government” and commended the RKM for its tremendous contributions in terms of human resource development in the state.
In response to a memorandum submitted by the MLA, Pema assured him of full support for all-round development of the constituency.
He urged the locals to cooperate with the administration for early establishment of the RKMS and the agriculture college, “without creating hindrances on compensation issues, particularly for the agriculture college.”
Rijiju, Waii, Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering, and RKM Lumdung chairman Hari Natung also spoke.
