FIR lodged against unknown miscreants for alleged attempt to delete genuine voters

ITANAGAR, Oct 15: An FIR has been lodged with the Likabali Police Station by the former ASM of Likabali, Senbom Taipodia along with local leaders Iken Tao and Nyakar Taipodia on 11 October, against unknown persons for attempting to delete 1,200 bona-fide voters out of 4000 from the electoral roll of 28th Likabali (S/T) constituency by putting forged signatures without the consent of the voters.
The complainants have alleged that unknown persons have forged the signatures of many people from Likabali circle, especially non-APST voters, which include shopkeepers, government staffs, etc and used their names to seek deletion of their names from the voters’ list.
“On 10 October, many of the voters whose names have been illegally used by forging signatures approached and submitted a written complaint to Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner AK Singh. The DC, after verifying the fraud, did not entertain the deletion of the voters. If those names are deleted illegally on the behest of these unknown persons, same would not only bypass individual right to franchise ensured under the Constitution of India, but also imbalance the voters of Likabali Circle which will entail law and order problems,” stated the complainants.
They further appealed to the concerned authority to initiate investigation and bring the unknown miscreants to book under appropriate sections of the law.
This daily could not reach the Lower Siang DEO for comments despite numerous attempts.
