ITANAGAR, Oct 22: The power department here has informed that the 132 kv Tezu-Namsai electricity transmission line will face continuous shutdown from 8 am of 22 October to 4 pm of 12 November in order to facilitate replacement of a “severely affected tower” along the line.
“All three legs of the tower, along with the bracing members, have been deformed and are in a most vulnerable condition due to the falling of big boulders,” the department informed in a release on Monday.
The department’s executive engineer (E), SLDC & transmission Division-II, said the decision to shut down the line was taken during an operational core committee meeting of the North Eastern Regional Power Committee on 11 October.
“On account of the shutdown, the 132 kv Ziro-Namsai transmission line will be isolated from Tezu, and Namsai district will be fed power supply from nearby Assam network,” the release added.
