Mudang Omo, Yabang Tali win mini marathon ‘Run for Unity’

ITANAGAR, Oct 31: Mudang Omo of Lower Subansiri won the 11km mini marathon ‘Run for Unity’ in the men’s category organized to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballbhabhai Patel here on Wednesday.
Omo completed the race in 39.13 minutes.
Taun Tako of Siang district and Karbu Kena of Upper Subansiri came in second and third respectively.
In women’s category Yabang Tali of Siang district won the first position. She took 43.25 minutes to complete the race.
Pomen Teppa and Kabi Doyum of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Chimpu finished second and third respectively.
Consolation prizes were also given to the fourth to 10th finishers from both the categories.
The mini marathon was flagged by Governor BD Mishra from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun. The race culminated at IG Park here.
Later, the governor and his wife Neelam Misra, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Mohesh Chai and Chief Secretary Satya Gopal gave away the prizes to the winners of the race at the IG Park here.
Director Sports Tadar Appa informed that a large number of participants from different parts of the state and Capital Complex, including students from Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Chimpu, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Arunachal Pradesh Police and educational institutions, participated in the celebration.
Senior officers, including Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Dani Salu, Secretary IPR & Secretary to CM Sonam Chombay, Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan, SP M Harsha Vardhan were present amongst others.
