The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a premier Indian federal institution has been slowly transformed into an useless and toothless organization through repeated political interferences post independence. The institution has completely lost its international credibility, public accountability and ability to function as an unbiased, honest, ethical and moral organization under successive political masters. The recent debacle of the clash of titans between top CBI bosses, involvement of high level politics and judiciary has reduced the institution to ashes and should be renamed as ‘FBI’ (Failed/Falsified/Faulty/Fearful Bureau of Investigation). The institution will fail its appeal now in different courts overseas involving cases dealing with willful money defaulters and money launders escaping India and taking refuge/asylum in other countries.
