ITANAGAR, Nov 2: The Karate Association India (KAI) has selected Johny Mangkhiya of Arunachal Pradesh for the WKF World Senior Karate Championship to be held at Madrid, Spain, from 5 to 11 November.
She will compete in the below 68 kg weight category in Kumite.
Mangkhiya was one of the members of the state karate team that made a clean sweep of medals in the recently held North East Olympic Games in Imphal, Manipur.
Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) president Shihan Likha Tara, who is also the vice president of KAI, has also been selected to represent the country as an official.
AKA general secretary Bulang Marik appealed to the state government to provide financial assistance to the players who are brining laurels to not only the state but to the country, as well.
He expressed hope that Mangkhiya would live upto expectations and bring laurels to the country and the state by winning medal in the world championship.
