Unions seek start of work on TAH

AALO, Nov 2: The district student unions of West Siang, Siang and Upper Siang have urged the West Siang administration to direct the concessionaire concerned to start work on the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) project, saying the three districts are badly hit by the deplorable condition of the road.
In a joint representation to the deputy commissioner here, the unions said the road, which is the lifeline of the three districts, is unfit for vehicular movement and the commuters should not have to bear the brunt.
“The government has placed sizeable amount for the maintenance of the road, and the road has been handed over to concerned agency and firm to carry out the repairing works; but the work is yet to start even after many months of sanctioning of fund,” they said, and threatened to launch an agitation if their request is not met.
