Vigilance Awareness Week observed

ITANAGAR, Nov 3: The GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment & Sustainable Development’s (GBPNIHESD) Northeast regional centre here observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 29 October to 3 November.
Besides the institute’s staff taking the integrity pledge, the weeklong programme featured an essay writing competition on the theme ‘Eradicate corruption – Build a new India’, conducted at DNG College (DNGC) on 31 October, in which students from different departments of the college participated.
Makki Camder Tok, Lombi Dokpe and Zarina Kimsing won the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
Poster and slogan competitions were also conducted on 1 November among the class 9 and 10 students of the Vivekananda Central School here.
Tisha Chakraborty (class 9) Ayantika Bhowmick (class 10) and Dorjee Phuntso (class 10) won the top three prizes in the poster competition, while Tai Setal (class 9), Tage Nasin (class 9) and Riya Pariyar (class 10) won the top three prizes in the slogan competition.
During the concluding event and prize distribution ceremony, held at the institute’s conference hall, GBPNIHESD scientist Dr KS Kanwal stressed the need of creating awareness on the ill-effects of corruption among the younger generation, while DNGC Principal Dr NT Rikam said students have to play a vital role in eradicating corruption from society.
Among other, DNGC Zoology Department Head Dr P Nanda and Vivekananda Central School Itanagar chairman N Suresh Babu also spoke.
