Agriculture Development Officer Hage Amphi spoke on the objectives of the schemes, and officials of the agriculture and allied departments submitted proposals for setting up a model farm on integrated farming system, milking machine-cum-chilling units, construction of a freshwater fish seed hatchery, handloom unit, etc.
Agriculture Deputy Director Joram Tako also attended the meeting.
FFC opened
Earlier, on 6 November, the DC opened the farmers’ facilitation centre (FFC) at the office of the agriculture deputy director here, in the presence of agriculture development officers, horticulture development officers and progressive farmers.
The DC commended the agriculture department for the initiative, and said the FFC should serve as a hub for agriculture and allied activities. He advocated encouraging the farmers to visit the centre with queries, and to avail of seeds, fertilizers, organic manures, etc, at subsidized rates.
The FFC will also facilitate the farmers-producers organization, in collaboration with the department, in conducting training and awareness programmes for the farmers of the district. (DIPRO)
