ITANAGAR, Nov 9: The arm wrestlers of the state displayed outstanding performance to win 10 medals, including a gold medal, in the just concluded 37th National Arm Wrestling Championship at Shillong, Meghalaya.
Differently-abled Dami Diyum bagged the gold in the ‘physically handicapped’ section in the men’s 70 kg weight category. He was also declared a champion in the physically handicapped category, informed the Arunachal Pradesh Arm Sports Association (APASA).
Besides this, the state won seven silver and two bronze medals.
Damdo Yomcha bagged a silver medal each in the junior boys’ and senior men’s below 55 kg category, while Moi Jini and Kanu Yomcha clinched a silver medal each in the junior boys’ above 78 kg category and the junior girls’ below 55 kg category, respectively.
Jumbom Lollen won the silver medal in the senior women’s 78 kg category, while Moli Ngomdir and Nyummar Bagra won a silver medal each in the senior men’s 86 kg and 95 kg category, respectively.
Nyosar Likar and Gampi Lingu also bagged a bronze medal each in the junior boys’ 63 kg and the senior women’s 55 kg category, respectively.
Arm wrestlers from 10 states participated in the championship, the APASA said.
Nyummar Bagra and Ligu Taju led the state team as manager and head coach.
