Think outside the box to succeed: Governor
NIRJULI, Nov 19: Governor BD Mishra advised students to change the trend of studying only to get a job and instead “think outside the box to become entrepreneurs who can provide jobs to others.”
He said this while presiding over the 7th convocation of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology’s (NERIST) here on Monday.
“Society has enabled the students to be qualified competent academic degree holder individuals. Now it is time that they pay back to the society,” the governor said, and asked them to ensure honesty and accountability in every action.
Mishra also urged the institute’s faculty members to be involved in the teaching-learning process “and not be confined to classroom schedules only.”
All India Council for Technical Education Chairman Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, NERIST Board of Management Chairman Prof Umesh Chandra Ray, and NERIST Director Prof HS Yadav also spoke.
Eighteen toppers in base module, degree module and postgraduate module received gold medals on the occasion. Twelve out of 19 candidates received PhD degrees, while 54 out of 122 candidates received postgraduate degrees in Master of Technology, Master of Science and Master of Business Management.
As many as 358 candidates received undergraduate degrees in degree module and post graduate module. (Raj Bhavan)
