Governor launches PBSG mission

ITANAGAR, Nov 25: Governor BD Mishra launched the Pay Back to Society Group (PBSG) mission of the Arunachalee armed forces officers at Raj Bhavan here on Sunday.
The mission will involve conducting motivational interactions with students of schools and colleges to inspire them to imbibe nationalism, positivity and goal-setting and contribute towards nation-building.
Speaking on the occasion, Mishra urged the officers to be coaches, trainers and motivators of the youths of the state.
“Do not rest till you have motivated and promoted enlistment of one officer and five jawans in the armed forces every year,” the governor said, adding that every effort must be made to make the first-of-its-kind initiative successful.
The governor expressed gratitude to the three service chiefs and the union and the state governments for their cooperation in making the initiative possible.
Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju, who was present on the occasion, complimented the governor for the PBSG initiative, and said Arunachalee officers in the armed forces “are the bridge for the people of northeastern region to the people in the hinterland.”
He assured to speak to all the members of the state legislative assembly and youths to participate in the PBSG-student meetings in the districts.
The MoS also requested the officers to infuse a positive impact into the youths, so as to enable them to join the armed forces.
Earlier, Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin, who is leading the mission, informed that there are 20 officers from the army, four from the navy and three from the air force in the mission.
Divided into eight groups, the officers will deliver motivational talks at Aalo, Kamba, Likabali, Pasighat, Roing, Yingkiong, Tezu, Namsai, Changlang, Khonsa, Longding, Bomdila, Tawang, Ziro, Raga, Daporijo, Hawai, Itanagar and Yupia.
The group aims to ensure enlistment of 50 officers in the armed forces in two years, and 100 officers in five years.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia and retired IAF group captain M Panging were also present on the occasion. (Raj Bhavan)
