State’s tourism potential showcased at IMT

AGARTALA, Nov 26: The tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh was showcased during the Northeast chapter of the 7th International Tourism Mart (ITM), which was held here in Tripura from 22 to 24 November.
The ITM is an annual event organized by the union tourism ministry to highlight the tourism potential of the northeastern region to the domestic as well as international market.
The event brings together the tourism business community and entrepreneurs from the eight northeastern states, and facilitates interactions between buyers, sellers, media, government agencies and other stakeholders.
Representing Arunachal, Tourism Director Kanto Danggen highlighted the tourism potential and other important aspects of the state. Cultural troupes from Arunachal showcased the state’s rich and colourful folkdances and songs.

Tourists from South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Kenya, Indonesia and USA showed keen interest in Arunachal, and said they would visit the state during the ‘post-mart familiarization tour’ to be organized by the Arunachal government.
The tour is being organized in two circuits, covering eastern and western Arunachal. Ten international delegates, comprising freelance journalists, travel writers, tour operators, bloggers and travel agents will be visiting the state.
A team comprising five departmental officials and six tour operators, headed by the tourism director, participated in the mart, representing Arunachal Pradesh.
