ANSU demands deletion of fake and illegal voters

ITANAGAR, Nov 27: The All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) in a representation to the chief electoral officer (CEO) urged him to delete/cancel the names of all the fake and illegal voters enrolled in the Nyishi inhabited districts.
The union claimed that numerous fake voters have been illegally enrolled at various polling stations in the Nyishi inhabited districts.
“Further, temporary non-APST residents under various polling stations are also being enrolled forcefully in electoral rolls in violation of the rules and guidelines,” it said.
The ANSU said such illegal practices “may hamper the existing homogeneous topography and invite illegal migrants for future settlement in our area.”
It urged the CEO to direct the deputy commissioners of Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Kamle, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, East Kameng and Pakke Kessang districts to cancel or delete the names of all the illegally enrolled voters by strictly following the guidelines and procedures of the election commission.
