Arunachal complied with SC directive on MDM scheme: Teotia

ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Following the Supreme Court’s (SC) order on Tuesday imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on five states, including Arunachal Pradesh, for not furnishing details on the midday meal (MDM) scheme in those states, Education Secretary Madhu Rani Teotia on Friday clarified that Arunachal had complied with apex court’s directive and already uploaded the data on MDM implementation in 2017.
“The state government complied with the court’s direction and uploaded the data in 2017. An affidavit was also submitted with the human resource development ministry in this regard by the then secretary education. The data is very much available in the public domain. It is available for perusal for anyone who can visit the website of the department of education at www.arpedu.in,” Teotia said.
Terming it a case of “miscommunication,” she said that despite complying with the apex court’s directive and uploading the data online, the counsel representing the state failed to convey the information to the court “following some miscommunication.”
Teotia said the state government would be filing a review petition in this regard with the apex court soon.
