PANBARI, Dec 17: The Tezu unit of the field outreach bureau (FOB) in collaboration with the women & child development directorate organized a ‘Standards of practice on nutrition’ programme under the Poshan Abhiyan at the anganwadi centre here in Lohit district on Sunday.
Addressing the participants, Tezu ICDS Supervisor Nuri Elapra spoke about the nutrients in food and the sources from where one can get them. She urged mothers to avoid bottle-feeding, and advised them to use bowls and spoons.
Elapra also urged married women to avail of the benefits under the PM’s Matritwa Vandana Yojana.
“The government is giving Rs 5,000 to the women who got pregnant for the first time, commencing from January 2017,” she said.
Tezu FOB unit head P Sonowal also spoke.
Earlier, lactating mothers, pregnant mothers and adolescent girls participated in an awareness rally at the general ground.
