PUNE, Jan 10: The Arunachal contingent continued its winning spree by clinching five medals on the second day of the Khelo India Youth Games 2019 here in Maharashtra on Thursday.
These include two silver and a bronze medal in weightlifting, and a silver and a bronze medal in Judo.
In the boys’ 67 kg U-17 weightlifting, Markio Tario lifted a total of 246 kgs (snatch – 104 and clean & jerk – 142) and won the silver medal, while Charu Pesi (61 kgs) lifted a total of 227 kgs (snatch – 97 and clean & jerk – 130) and won another silver medal in weightlifting.
In the girls’ 45 kg U-21 weightlifting, Techi Nadam bagged a bronze medal by lifting a total of 129 kgs (snatch – 56 and clean & jerk – 73).
Kabi Doyom won the silver in Judo in the U-17 girls’ 48 kg category, and in the boys’ 50 kg category Khomdan Wanghop won a bronze medal.
In the U-17 boys’ badminton, Laa Takum cleared the first round after beating Maharashtra in straight sets, 21-19 and 22-20.
On Wednesday, Arunachal opened its account with two bronze medals in weightlifting, informed chef de mission of the Arunachal contingent, Tadar Appa.
