ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Arunachal Pradesh won a bronze medal on day five of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2019 at Pune in Maharashtra on Sunday.
Lifter Ph Roshini bagged the bronze in the U-21 and 71 kg bodyweight category in girls’ weightlifting. She lifted a total of 167 kgs (snatch 77 kgs and clean & jerk 90 kgs).
In the U-17 boys’ boxing, Huri John (46 kg) won his first-round bout against Gourav Majumdar of Assam, while Hikum Haji (48 kg) lost in the first round to Haryana.
In U-17 girls’ boxing, Gora Yalum (46 kg) lost to Haryana in the first round.
With a total of 12 medals (five silver and 7 bronze), Arunachal is currently in the 23rd position in the medal tally.
Meanwhile, the wrestling competition has been completed and the Arunachal team left Pune for Itanagar on Sunday, KIYG’s Arunachal Pradesh coordinator Karbia Dodum informed.
