SUNPURA, Jan 20: Deputy CM Chowna Mein on Sunday announced to release fund for repair and maintenance work on the Sunpura road in the current year. He also assured to provide fund under the RIDF next year for construction of the 16 km road from Sunpura to National Highway 13.
The DCM made the announcements while attending the inaugural function of the Gayatri Shaktipeeth temple here in Lohit district.
Addressing the gathering, Mein said Arunachal and other NE states witnessed immense development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“With the inauguration of bridges with strategic importance in Assam and in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, road transport has become smoother, tourism activities have been boosted, and there has been an increase industrial investment. It is actually Arunachal Pradesh which is in an advantageous position after the opening of the Dhola-Sadiya and Bogibeel bridges,” he said.
Mein expressed hope that the Gayatri Shaktipeeth temple would be a centre of constructive activities, culture and religion, and foster universal peace, harmony and goodwill in the region.
Lauding the efforts of the All World Gayatri Pariwar in disseminating the tenets of culture and human values and in “promoting a proper blend of science and spirituality,” Mein assured to provide his personal support for construction of a library, an old-age home and a boundary wall for the temple.
Earlier, Mein along with others unfurled the Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Pariwar flag and paid obeisance to Maa Gayatri in the temple.
Among others, Chongkham MLA Chow Tewa Mein, Sadiya (Assam) MLA Bolin Chetia, PWD Commissioner Bilatee Pertin, DC Karma Leki and SP DW Thongon were present. (DCM)
