SARDP-NE committee clears financial proposal for Potin-Pangin road

ITANAGAR, Feb 1: The high powered inter-ministerial committee on SARDP-NE in a meeting on Thursday cleared the proposal of Rs 3988.98 crore for the Potin to Pangin National Highway 13 project. It includes the additional cost of utility shifting of electricity and water supply.
The committee divided the entire stretch of the 351.383 km Potin-Pangin NH into three packages by combining package numbers 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9, having lengths of more than 100 kms each and involving more than Rs 1000 crore worth civil work, so that petty problems which could delay the project could be sorted out.
The secretary of the ministry of road, transport & highways (MoRTH), who chaired the meeting, instructed that bids should be invited in such a manner that one bidder should be awarded only one package.
Considering the importance of the project, the MoRTH secretary requested Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Satya Gopal to be present at the pre-bid meeting which would be held in Itanagar under the aegis of the MoRTH, so that the bidders
could be explained about the necessity of completing the project in a time-bound manner.
The committee also instructed the authority concerned to invite bids at the earliest, so that work on the important project may see the light of the day.
The bids are likely to be invited in the second week of February. Among others, chief engineers and engineers from the departments concerned were present at the meeting.
The chief secretary explained to the committee the importance and urgency of constructing the long pending Potin-Pangin road.
