DEBING, Feb 5: Over 80 farmers took part in a training programme on ‘sustainable and quality production technology of Khasi mandarin’ and ‘importance of micro-irrigation in horticultural crops’ which was held at Debing village in East Siang district on Monday.
Associate professor and principal investigator of the project, Dr L Wangchu, informed the farmers about “the recent advances in package and practice on Khasi mandarin cultivation,” with special reference to location-specific problems relevant to the district. He also spoke about the major pests and deficiencies encountered in Khasi mandarin.
Natural resource management department’s associate professor, Dr SK Pattanaik, presented a brief on water management and planting techniques, while Dr RC Shakywar explained the techniques of mushroom production.
