ITANAGAR, Feb 11: The All Kamle District Students’ Union in a representation to the chief electoral officer here on Monday sought shifting of the electoral machineries for the Raga assembly constituency – which are currently under the Upper Subansiri district electoral officer (DEO) – to the Kamle DC office in Raga to ensure proper conduct of elections.
Despite the creation of Kamle, there is no independent district electoral office in the district, and the Upper Subansiri DEO has been controlling all election-related affairs of the Raga assembly constituency, the union said.
“Immediate transfer of electoral controlling machineries of 25th Raga (ST) assembly constituency to DC, Kamle district, is necessary to avoid any kind of untoward incident during or after the polling and counting of votes, which usually happens during every general election due to poor monitoring under DEO, Daporijo,” it said.
