PALIN, Feb 13: A two-day block level training on social audit for development functionaries of RD and PR departments, GPDC, village interim committee members and SHG members began here in Kra Daadi district on Wednesday.
Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Sulung Miji stressed upon the importance of social audit as a mandatory provision under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guaranteed (MGNREG) Act for attaining transparency, accountability and proactive disclosure of information about the programme implementation to beneficiaries, who are unaware of their own rights and entitlements under the MGNREG Act.
He further cautioned all participating officers and officials involved in implementation of various schemes launched by the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and the state government, to maintain strict records of each project implemented by them, so that queries, information, reports, etc can be provide as and when asked for by the social audit team or other audit agencies.
RD & NRM Assistant Director faculty in-charge SW Bagang and Project Director in-charge Techi Tabang highlighted the benefits of social audit for smooth implementation of MGNREG schemes at grass root level.
