Langpu Yakia gets Swachh Shakti Award

KURUKSHETRA, Feb 15: Former ASM of Tali block in Kra-Daadi district, Langpu Yakia, has been given the Swachh Shakti Award-2019 in recognition of the inspiring role she played in the Swachh Sundar Shauchalaya (SSS) campaign in the state.
Yakia received the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi here in Haryana on 12 February, during the concluding event of the month-long SSS campaign across the country.
Yakia was one of the two awardees from the Northeast region, and among the 12 awardees from across the country.
Yakia led the SSS campaign with great vigour and commitment, under the guidance of the Palin (Jamin) PWD division executive engineer, to become the top performer from Arunachal Pradesh.
Altogether 6271 toilets across Arunachal Pradesh were painted, and all the toilets constructed under the SBM (G) in Pipsorang gram panchayat in Tali block were painted during the SSS campaign.
The union drinking water & sanitation ministry launched the month-long SSS campaign across the country on 1 January, 2019, to mobilize households to paint their toilets and give them a facelift in order to further promote sustained usage, increase the sense of ownership, and improve the visibility of toilets.
