Org alleges absence of reservation in job recruitment, seeks GoAP’s intervention

ITANAGAR, Feb 15: Claiming that no reservation has been kept for the ST candidates of the state for recruitment as security assistants/executives in an advertisement published by the Intelligence Bureau on 19 October, 2018, the Students United Movement of Arunachal Pradesh has urged the state government to address the matter before the commencement of the exam, which is scheduled to be held on 17 February.
“A specific number of posts have been rationally allocated against each state by maintaining the ST/OBC/SC quota, as per the existing rules. But no reservation has been made for the STs of Arunachal Pradesh. Out of the 29 posts allocated to the state, only one is reserved for SC, whereas Arunachal Pradesh is a ST dominated state and hence 80% reservation should have been maintained for the STs of Arunachal Pradesh,” said the organization.
It said its members have met Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju and sought his intervention in the issue, “but despite his assurance, no concrete steps have been taken so far.”
The organisation threatened to resort to democratic action if the state government fails to address the issue at the earliest.
