23SENKI PARK, Feb 22: The public health engineering & water supply (PHE&WS) department has declared the office premises of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) western zone CE and the mechanical office EE here ‘plastic-free zones’.
Usage of single-use items like plastic carry bags, plastic bottles, plastic cups/glasses, etc, is strictly prohibited in these office premises, and violation of the ban will invite financial penalty.
The decision was taken during a meeting between the PHE&WS CE (WZ), the SBM (G) mission director, and officials of the department.
The initiative has been taken in the interest of public health and the environment, and to contribute towards the SBM.
