PM launches smart city ICC centres at Itanagar and Pasighat

ITANAGAR Mar 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) for Itanagar and Pasighat Smart City through digital platform (remote control) from New Delhi.
At Itanagar, the foundation stone laying ceremony for Smart City ICC centre was organized at Dorjee Khandu Hall, Legislative Assembly and was attended by Home Minister Kumar Waii, among others.
PM also launched the facility for Gangtok and Namchi in Sikkim, and Agartala in Tripura.
Addressing the event via video conference, the PM said the urban centres of the northeast, with their pool of skilled human resource, have the potential to emerge as growth hubs for the entire region.
“I believe that with the system in place, administrators will be able to monitor city operations better and respond in real time. The implementation of Integrated Command and Control Centres is gathering pace across India. As on March 1, 2019, these centres have already become functional in 15 Smart Cities. Work is in progress at 50 other centres,” Modi said.
As cities start implementing and expanding the different elements of this system, they will be able to improve ‘ease of living’ for their citizens, he said.
“I am confident that we are fast progressing towards urban transformation of our north eastern cities. This will improve quality of life and boost economic development of the region,” he added.
At Pasigaht, the moment was witnessed by the Dy. Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Kinny Singh, DIGP Isaac Pertin, local MLA Kaling Moyong, SP Prashant Gautam, Director Town Planning & ULB cum CEO Pasighat Smart City and others at the DC’s office conference hall.
In his brief speech, DCM Mein said, Itanagar and Pasighat will be developed to have basic infrastructure such as assured water and power supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, IT connectivity, e-governance etc.
DC Dr. K. Singh and local MLA Kaling Moyong also spoke on the occasion. Moyong asserted that smart city will help us to improve the operational effectiveness, cost-efficiency and thereby, improve overall citizen quality of life including environment. DIPROs and PTI
