ITANAGAR, Apr 5: Independent candidate from Arunachal West parliamentary constituency, Rumak Jomoh, on Friday took a shot at MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju for saying that Lekang’s permanent resident certificate (PRC) issue was of no concern to him.
During a BJP rally in Doimukh on 3 April, Rijiju, who is also an MP candidate from Arunachal West, had said: “I was forcefully dragged into the PRC issue. The people of Lekang do not vote for me, and it is none of my concern.”
Slamming the MoS for his “ignorant” statement, Jomoh said, “Rijiju in his manifesto had said that he would look after the entire state, region and the nation. Lekang in eastern Arunachal is also a part of the state and requires equal attention. While he represents the state at the Centre, his statement implies that he is concerned with only one part of the state. You are a mature politician. Do not give such childish statements.”
On Rijiju’s allegations against the opposition parties, Jomoh pointed out: “Your government has been running the state since 2014. If you felt that there was a mistake by the previous government, you were in power and could have undone the wrongs.”
He also hinted at the Rs 1.8 crore found at the Siang guesthouse in East Siang HQ Pasighat recently, and said, “There is no point of parroting your slogan of ‘main bhi chowkidar.’ You roam around at night as a chowkidar and we wake up to the news of finding things inside vehicles of the chowkidars.”
