NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 15: Deputy Commissioner of Assam’s Lakhimpur district Dr Jeevan B has asked the NEEPCO officials to intimate the Lakhimpur district administration and Water Resources Department instantly when they release water from Ranganadi Hydro-Electric Project (RHEP).
The DC said this during a meeting with officials of North East Electrical Power Corporation (NEEPCO) on Tuesday regarding preparation for the ensuing monsoon season.
The meeting discussed about floods in the downstream areas of the river in Lakhimpur district in the wake of the release of dam water by NEEPCO.
The officials from NEEPCO and RHEP were asked to take pre-emptive measures to tackle the situation observed every monsoon.
The meeting was also attended by ADC, Papum Pare district, Revenue Circle Officers of North Lakhimpur, Nowboicha, Bihpuria and Narayanpur circles besides officials from Water Resources Department and Disaster Management Authority of Lakhimpur.
