ROING, May 15: An alleged drug peddler named Tanung Panyang was arrested by the Roing Police team led by Nodal Officer NDPS, SS Jha here recently from the township area. 40 grams of suspected brown sugar was recovered from his possession. Panyang was booked under section 22(b) of the NDPS Act following his arrest at the Roing PS.
As per report, during the interrogation, Panyang reportedly revealed the names of 11 other drug peddlers active in the township area.
“The investigating team had engaged sources to keep constant surveillance on the named peddlers,” informed SI Jha. He also informed that as a result of the constant surveillance three persons were arrested from Mayu-II on Tuesday and from their possession 10 grams of suspected brown sugar was seized.
The SP Lower Dibang Valley Sanjay Kumar Sain has informed that this is just the beginning of a long battle against drug abuse. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy lifestyle. Further, he has also warned all the peddlers to stay away from Lower Dibang Valley or else face strict legal action.
