DC convenes meeting with political parties for peaceful counting

ITANAGAR, May 16: Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta on Thursday convened a meeting with the contesting candidates and election agents of the Itanagar assembly constituency to ensure peaceful conduct of the counting process.
“The voting for the simultaneous elections on 11 April went peacefully; therefore we should ensure that the counting is also done peacefully and there is no breakdown of law and order after the declaration of result,” the DC said during the meeting.
He sought cooperation from the candidates to ensure peace and tranquility post the result declaration.
Gupta also requested the residents of the capital to cooperate with the administration in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.??
Capital SP Tumme Amo also sought the residents’ cooperation for successful conduct of the election.
The candidates and their agents promised their full support to the administration, and assured to refrain from indulging in activities which might disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the capital.
The candidates informed that they have asked all their supporters to maintain peace and tranquility in the capital region.??
Contesting candidates Techi Kaso JD (U) and Yumlam Achung (INC) along with the election agents of the BJP, the JD (S) and the NPP attended the meeting.
EACs Hengo Basar and Choiki Dondup were also present. (DIPRO)
