Molestation of minors reported

ITANAGAR, May 17: A case of molestation of two minor girls in Yupia came to the fore recently, and the accused is reportedly absconding.
According to an FIR lodged at the Itanagar women police station on 14 March, the minor girls, who were living with their sister-in-law in Yupia for their studies, were allegedly molested by one Nabam Tadik.
A case (No 10/2019 u/s 354/354-A of IPC read with Section 10 and 12 of the POSCO Act) has been registered at the women police station.
The FIR alleged that the accused had showed the minors pornographic films and touched their private parts on two occasions. It said the accused warned them of dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anybody.
“The matter came to light when the victims went to their native home after completing their annual examination on 8 March,” a relative of the victims said in a release.
The release said the accused has been absconding since the FIR was lodged, and that his anticipatory bail applications have been rejected by the courts.
The parents of the victims have sought assistance from civil society organisations and NGOs, especially the Nabam Welfare Society, in tracing the whereabouts of the accused to ensure his early arrest.
