NIRJULI, May 19: A joint team of expert committee members from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) visited the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) here from 17 to 18 May to review the status of the deemed-to-be university.
While the UGC team was led by Prof IK Bhat (Director), the AICTE team was headed by former vice chancellor of Delhi Technological University, Prof. Pradip Kumar.
The members of the expert committee, in four separate groups, inspected all the academic departments, hostels and various other facilities in the NERIST to gather firsthand information about the institute and its functioning.
The teams also evaluated the academic programmes, such as course curriculum, admission, and the teaching-learning and evaluation processes of various programmes offered by the institute.
The expert committee members also interacted with the students and non-teaching and teaching staffs.
Earlier, the team was informed about the status and the achievements of the institute by NERIST Dean (Admin) Prof KN Devangan in the presence of NERIST Director Prof. HS Yadav, other deans, HoDs and officers of the institute.
