72 youths to undergo skill development trg

ITANAGAR, May 21: The skill development & entrepreneurship (SDE) department organized a ‘briefing-cum-send-off programme’ at the Udyog Sadan here on Tuesday for 72 youths who will undergo skill development training in travel and tourism in Guwahati, Assam.
The students will be trained by Guwahati-based Tusti Foundation, which is an empanelled training provider under the centrally-sponsored state managed (CSSM) component of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and is implemented by the state SDE department.
The candidates were selected through the annual ‘skill development sensitization, motivation and trainees’ selection rally’ held in every district headquarters of the state.
SDE Director Subu Tabin along with Assistant Director J Riba briefed the participants on the training programme, acclimatizing to a new place, security precaution, discipline, etc, to complete their training an acquire suitable jobs.
The cost of the training, travel expenses, boarding, etc, are being taken care of by the state government under the PMKVY, through the SDE department.
At the end of the training, the candidates will undergo third-party assessment, to be conducted by an empanelled and professional organization. The candidates who complete the training would be provided with trade certificates by the sector skill council concerned and the National Skill Development Corporation.
“At least 70 percent of the candidates would be provided job/placement,” Tabin informed in a release.
The SDE director informed that 2,215 candidates in 23 job roles, in 12 different sectors, completed their training in the last financial year under the PMKVY, and that 483 candidates are currently placed in various job roles.
