Legal awareness, counselling campaign held

ITANAGAR, May 27: Over 300 households in the rural areas around the capital complex were covered during a door-to-door ‘legal awareness and free legal counselling campaign’ organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLS) in association with the Papum Pare District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the Arunachal Law Academy (ALA) recently.
During the campaign, which was held at villages like Sood, Borum, Yupia, Tigdo, Emchi, Chiputa, Jampa, Mani, Sopo, Midpu, Kholma and Khula Camp, the residents were made aware of the availability of free legal services, especially for the marginalized section of the society, and ways to avail them.
The people were also informed about the availability of legal aid clinics, lok adalats, the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, etc.
A team comprising legal aid counsellors from the APSLSA and the DLSA, along with ALA faculty members and law students carried out the campaign.
